Paz’s Pacquiao vs. Cotto wrap-up

pacquaio-cotto

Well, the fight went pretty much the way I said it would…I predicted a late round stoppage by the PacMan and that’s what happened, but the question is… did it really settle anything?

Here’s the facts: Pacquiao is now a SEVEN division champion.  Love it or hate it, he’s now in the echelon of Henry Armstrong and Sugar Ray Robinson.  He’s an all time great and first ballot hall of famer, but the question is…will Floyd fight PacMan?

It’s a loaded question.  The last REAL fighters that Floyd fought IN HIS WEIGHT CLASS were Diego Corrales and Jose Luis Castillo.  He DESTROYED the late great Corrales, but Castillo gave him fits.  Simply stated, Money May hasn’t fought a real guy in 10 years.  He’s a bitch, simple and plain.  He turned down 8 million dollars to fight Antonio Margarito to fight a washed up Arturo Gatti for 2 million.

Floyd says he won’t fight Pacquiao because of his relationship with Pacquiao’s promoter, and Floyd’s FORMER promoter, Bob Arum….again, bullshit.  BUT, Floyd is a smart guy…he’ll wait for Mosley to pummel Andre Berto and fight Mosley in 18-24 months when Shane is 40 years old.  He’s a funny dude, Floyd, for ONCE, do what’s good for the FIGHT GAME, and fight Manny.  Then maybe, just maybe, the boxing world will have their first definitive pound for pound champ since Pernell “Sweet Pea” Whitaker…
