VINNIE PAZ SPEAKS ON NEW JEDI MIND TRICKS ALBUM

Our new album “Violence Begets Violence” drops October 25th. Some of you have heard by now that this is the first Jedi Mind Tricks album we’ve made without Stoupe handling the production. Bottom line is at some point after making our last album, “A History of Violence,” Stoupe lost his passion for making hip-hop and wanted to try new things.

Through our career, we’ve always waited on him to get inspired to make a new album, but this time around we got tired of waiting out his creative drought. He tried to produce some things for this new album, but we could tell early on that his heart wasn’t in making JMT records anymore. He’s moved on as a producer to work in other genres with his sideprojects, Dutch and Vespertina, and we’ve moved on with a new crop of talented producers to make the hardcore hip-hop we’ve always been known for.

We’re reinvigorated and we feel like these younger, hungrier kids put a battery in our back. You deserve the best music we can make. Stoupe made great albums with us, but he’s moved in a different direction as a producer, so we decided this was the best move for us to make sure we give you guys the best music we can.

Regardless, Jus and I feel like we made a great record. I’ve made plenty of other albums with other producers. You guys know AOTP. You know my solo shit. Some of you even said that my solo album was the best work I’ve done to date, including all of the JMT albums. Don’t worry, that classic hardcore JMT shit is coming on October 25th. Just trust me. I’ve never let you down in 15 years. Give us the benefit of the doubt and listen to “Violence Begets Violence” with an open mind.

The music business is crazy right now. Most artists disappear after one album or one single. We’ve been fortunate to have a 15-year run, which could’ve never happened without you guys…our fans. The last thing we want to do is to try to pull the wool over your eyes, so we wanted to let you know upfront about Stoupe, but also let you know that we’re still Jedi Mind Tricks…we still are, and always will be, making hardcore shit no matter who mans the boards.

Here’s a taste of what’s in store. This one is called “Target Practice” and produced by Hypnotist Beats. Download it here.

You can pre-order the album now through the JMT Store or on iTunes.

As always thanks for your unwavering support,
Vinnie Paz and the JMT crew

  • Jack

    Best song since VBD.

  • Erik Saulnier

The most consistent rapper of all time. I trust ya Vinnie, can't wait for these bangers! Hope your next tour brings you close to Nova Scotia!

  • RobeParsons

Yea, I am a fan of Vinnie and Jus, as I was/am of Stoupe. Vin I think nailed it, has he ever really been a part of, or put himself out there on a wack project? Can't we all agree the man knows the kind of beats we all want to hear him rhyme over? He and the entire crew know and respect what their audience loves about JMT, and that is in your face, rugged, do something! music. I am and will remain a fan of Stoupes and get excited when he released a new project, but for now, OCT 25th is circled on my calendar. September was a hard month to beat for Hip Hoppers, but OCT is shaping up damn well.

Target practice just makes me more fucking eager to the album! Cant wait.

  • Ramb0

thanks for the honesty vin. sad news but the show keeps going. maybe stoupe will come back around one day. the single is fucking dope! nothing less than great has ever been released under the JMT name so i have no doubt this project will deliver. sounds like this is going back to the VBD adrenaline raps. jus and vin killing shit.

    Very nice post, Vinnie Paz.

Don't fucking steal or hate on that shit. It's not like it was Paz and Jus decision to not have Stoupe on this album.

I already can forsee all the haters that are going to shit on Paz and Jus for not having Stoupe beats. Don't be fucking hypocrites; the reason why your favorite producer was left out was because he clearly doesn't care about a fan base that HATE and STEAL all day.

Paz and Jus ARE Jedi Mind Tricks as much as Stoupe was.

I, for one, am so fucking happy they re-united together and keep working their ass off for us fans.

I was fucking ANXIOUS to hear what Target Practice would sound like. I had NO idea what to expect.

This is the best Jus has sounded in a long time. Haunting chorus. Paz does his thing. Both guys sound inspired. I just wish the song was longer. Too short.

So far, this album sounds like a classic JMT album.

well put homie and yeah Jus sounded real good on this track hope he keeps it up all the way through. cuz to be honest i really didnt dig his shit on the last AOTP album, and theres only a couple of his verses i liked on History Of Violence. Hopefully this will be the hungry Violent By Design Jus Allah/ Megatron

  • http://www.youtube.com/TheProphaze Haggs

Shame about Stoupe but it will make for a great return if he does.
This is gonna be a crazy album though!

  • RSB

Have no doubt this album will be dope as shit, just like all the rest. Can't fucking wait. Hopefully if you take it on the rd you'll come back to Maine we need more of that hardcore shit up here.

  • Wm3

Dope track, thanks for the preview!

  • SutterKane

I saw this coming, his work on Dutch & Vespertina was his best stuff in years, you can see thats where his heart is now and I'd rather he left with Dignity then try and force summin that wasnt there

Vinny & Jus will be fine, there are plenty of great Producers out there who make what there looking for, and for what its worth I liked Season of the assassin and Heavy Metal Kings alot better then A history of Violence anyway

People grow and move in diffrent directions, part of life, the group gave us a nice almost 15 year run since Psycho social, it was inevitable that the group line up would change at some point, but Im still eagerly awaiting anything new from Vinnie, Jus or stoupe

  • Delph

Now thats what I'm talkin bout Jus!!!! The God is back homie… Yo if Jus rhymes like this on this album this shit gonna be banannas son. He switched it up a little bit over the last few years for my taste, but he got his flow back and is fuckin killin it like I knew he could. Dude is a fuckin beast, always has been in my eyes. It seemed like for a minute he was trying something new that didnt fit him with his voice and delivery. But this shit is like told jus with a more powerful voice. I knew eventually it would balance out and he would end up goin bar for bar with Vin like on VBD. When Jus is on his shit he is a top emcee, Vin is killin shit as usual. JMT catchin bodies with this album… I been fuckin waitin for this shit. Straight fight music. Yo Jus whats the deal with the solo shit?? Mutha fuckaz is waitin homie.. Whens the God gonna bless us? Ill shit bottom line 94 punch you in the fuckin mouth type shit. Philly Stand Up!!!

  • AOTP

THIS TRACK IS SICK AS FUCK…WATS UP WITH ALLAHS ALBUM "MMA"??ITS GUNNA BE LIKE A YEAR SINCE HE SAID IT WAS DROPPING

  • steven

I totally understand where stoupe is at right now, i feel the same about hip hop, that it doesn't inspire anymore. As a producer you can only do a 2 to 4 bar loop with a change on the chorus for so long, then the formula will begin to get very tired,he has the oppurtunity to experiment with other musicians, using live instruments, and any producer would welcome that chance with great enthusiasm.. stoupes dutch album was the best production i have heard from him since legacy of blood,it was my favourite album released last year.. i really can't wait for the next dutch record. The new track is dope, very gritty sounding and jus allah sounds alot better.

  • ComingofTan

we waited now a while for the new record and were all looking forward 2 buy and listen up this ish! Stoupe is the greates ever by producing, i hope he turns back, cause without him something is missing when he`s not on that record…
And yeah the season of the assassin was quite dope vinnie… u got lots of new supporters with this… i still prefer The Sound and Fury… hope JMT stays on the way they walked all the time and dont get to commercial…. Violent by design legacy of blood and the psycho social are still the best records u ever made… but fuck my opinion….. keep it dope

  • zerom

    cant waittttttt !!!

  • Ramb0

anybody crying about no stoupe after reading what vinnie posted to the fans needs their head checked. he kept it together as long as he could. if it was up to vinnie and jus, stoupe would be there. time is a funny thing and it's full of tricks. i'm grateful to be getting a new project in any capacity. jus allah and vinnie paz are genius rappers. they got enough power to make this right.

  • russianmafia

    Well… That's kinda sad.
I hope the new album will be good.

  • Jose Zaragoza

I never really gave a fuck about bands or groups splitting up but damn this feels like someone just died, no matter what i'm still gonna buy the new album because JMT puts there fucking heart into every thing they do and you can hear it the fucking passion in every verse true fans support the artist no matter what. These bullshit internet fans who just bitch about old shit "Violent By Design Bro!" none of which probably buy records anymore just download and critique negative shit. These guys aren't 19 years old anymore they are progressing as artist. True artist progress and keep it moving, i'm really excited about all the Enemy Soil projects and I know i won't be disappointed, oh yeah you guys should come tour the Bay Area again.

  • Perry

Don't call it Jedi Mind Tricks if Stoupe is not producing. Call it two rappers who fell off and their producer switched genres because he's too artistic for them.

  • Harun

Much support, Spiritual rebirth tatted on my throat.

  • Stoupe_JMT_

New Album without Stoupe – No Jedi Mind Tricks anymore. Very Sad!

  • Zach

Vinnie, I hope you will read this because I have an important question i would like to ask you.

In your tracks I hear a references to the bible and other books, like elohim en books of people like malachi york, my question is, which books would you recommend for me to read. I want to know a lot more of these people and their opinion, but i couldn't find their books myself, could you please help me?

    My email is erter@live.nl

vinnie,if u read this shit, love ur music, only music that i identify too, from islam,to fighting,to struggling my whole fucking life in a country that doesnt want me,an illegal alien, smuggled here as a baby, cant work, gotta do what i got to do for my kids,ur music touches me,and vinnie,no stoupe dont mean shit, aint an insult to the man,ur passion is felt brother, thats what keeps us fans loyal, pray for ur career, bump ur shit hard on the west coast, peace

  • http://www.twitter.com/bringdamfruckus BringDaMFRuckus

Look I'm not hating. I bought every cd of jedi mind tricks and army of the pharoahs and vinnie's solo shit. I've been down since the Amber Probe EP and have never failed to push JMT to the succes it has now, moneywise, I see myself as an investor, along with other fans. We went to the shows and bought your shit. And therefore I feel my opinion is neva antiquated. Would you punch the cd store clerk in the mouth for selling you a Gangstarr CD without Premo on it? Nuff said. I love Vinnie. As a rapper, a muslim brother and a person. The same with Jus Allah. I will continue to support your shit because hiphop needs you two. But I will never consider this a Jedi Mind Tricks album. Just call yourselves Jedi Minds, seeing that stoupe is really the Tricks of the three. My two cents. Friendly regards and as salaamu alaykum, a dedicated fan.

  • Warlok

Fuckin amazing, dopest allah spit since 2000

I remember walking into a record store (newbury comics ) and I was looking around and boom the jedi mind tricks visions of gandhi album dropped that day. I picked it up and just bought it .I heard no reviews,no nothing, not knowing anything about the album or jmt. I popped it in the cd player and have not stopped listening to jedi mind tricks since. first off yeah it sucks that stoupe didn't do tracks on the album but who gives a fuck? if you are a true jmt supporter then you should just be happy they are still droppin albums.

  • Big_smoke

I thinks this album will be fucking dope :)
